why I purposely “lose” negotiations

'Losing' negotiations is how I built my solopreneur business to $100k+ in <10 months.

Here's what I mean.

Most solopreneurs and sales professionals go to war with their prospects.

They sit on opposite sides of the negotiation table and are looking through a selfish lens.

"How can I get the MOST money today? What's in this for ME?"

This often leads to:

  • Closing deals that are one-and done engagements. No renewals or retainers after.
  • Constantly having to rely on DMs or living on LinkedIn to get new clients in the door
  • Burning out and worrying about where your next dollar or deal is coming from.

My strategy is the complete opposite.

Whenever I'm working with a new client or partner, my goal is to be as easy and effortless to work with as possible.

I *rarely* push back on negotiations for profit shares, contract amounts, and other details.

My goal is to be very fair, and get to "yes" as quick as possible.

The result is this:

I earn the reputation of being easy to work with.

When my results for that client or partner exceed expectations, it becomes a 1-2 punch that forces your clients to talk about you to their friends and contacts.

Translation:

You get clients knocking on your door from referrals with ease. It's a compounding effect.

Adopt this mindset in your dealings, and watch how you pull in new partners, clients, and deals automatically.

Until tomorrow.
